Mother’s Day is just around the corner, but for obvious reasons, this year’s celebrations are going to have to take a different tone. With self-isolation making it impossible to go out and celebrate the mother figures in your life, it’s important to think of new ways to say “Thank You” that can be done from home. We’ve come up with a few great ideas to help you make mom feel special, while still doing your part for social responsibility. 


Let Mom Rest 

We all know that moms are often running around and keeping the house organized, so an amazing, yet simple, way to say “Thank You” is to let her rest. Start the morning by letting her sleep in, and when she wakes up you can create a relaxing atmosphere by giving her a comfy robe and slippers and a great cup of coffee or tea. While your mom or partner is resting, it’s a great idea to clean up and organize the house, so she doesn’t have to lift a finger. Since you can’t take your mom or partner to the spa for this special day, you can create your own at home spa to make her feel special. Special Brunch or Dinner

With so many local restaurants still offering delivery, it’s easy to order in your mother or partner’s favourite meal, complete with a great bottle of wine or champagne. If you have a large family at home, catering companies are offering special meal packages that can be delivered right to your door. During this self-isolation we’ve seen a major rise in baking, so this could be the perfect time to perfect your skills and create a special dessert for her to enjoy. 


Personalized Gifts 

Nothing says “I love you” or “Thank You” more than a thoughtful and personalized gift. A simple hand-written letter detailing your feelings and gratitude is an extremely meaningful way to show your mother or partner how much you care. You could also create a family scrapbook with pictures of your favourite memories and times together. Don’t Forget to Include the Extended Family 

If you’re self-isolating alone, or aren’t able to reach your own mother figure, then thankfully there are multiple virtual applications that can connect you in real time. Houseparty, Skype, or Zoom are all video calling functions that you can utilize to talk to you mother or partner and feel like you’re celebrating together.
