The stress of planning a luxury vacation can sometimes make you question whether the getaway is worth it. Below, we share some tips that will help you avoid feeling stressed or overwhelmed when planning your next vacation.

CONSIDER YOUR SCHEDULE

It’s easy to see a good price on tickets and impulsively book your trip based solely on that. However, that is not the best way to plan a trip, as your schedule is the main dictator of what can and cannot happen. If you tend to get busier in the middle of the month, or the end of a quarter, you’ll want to think about scheduling your trip around those times to minimize stress. You’ll also want to think about how much downtime you need to re-adjust after coming back from a trip. Some people like to make the most of their vacation time and come back on a Sunday afternoon, while others like flying home a day or two before returning to work to give themselves time to get organized before going back to their daily routines.

LISTS ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND

It’s best to think about what’s causing you stress and make a list for it. Whether it is the tasks that you have to complete before going on your trip, or what you want to see or do on your trip, making a list of how to tackle these things can be a major life-saver. When you have a plan on how you’re going to get things done, everything seems much more doable and less daunting. It’s also a great idea to have an itinerary if you’re heading somewhere where there is a lot that you want to see and do!

MINIMIZE ANY VACATION TASKS AHEAD OF TIME

Think about where you’re vacationing and any things or attractions that you may want to see or do ahead of time. Many people like to bring a decent amount of money to tip housekeeping staff and others without having to get change all of the time. If there are any attractions that you want to see, research to find out whether they require booking, or what the price of entry will be, so you are not caught off guard when you get there. It’s also good to plan them into your vacation itinerary, so you don’t find yourself putting them off and not getting to do them at all.

KEEP YOUR SUITCASE PACKED

Nothing is worse than being on vacation and realizing that you forgot your toothbrush. The best way to avoid any mishaps like this is to have separate toiletries for home and your vacation. Keeping a small bag in your suitcase with everything that you need on a day-to-day basis will ensure that you are not finding yourself trying to find a store to purchase them on your vacation and wasting precious relaxation time.
